When I first moved to Portland, I discovered what allergies meant. Portland is a gray rainy wonderland six months out of the year but when spring and summer hit, the natural beauty and greenery are eye candy. Hands down, it’s one of the most beautiful places I have ever lived and I’ve lived in 4 different countries and 4 different states. Three months after moving here and basking in the glorious greenery, I went to the doctor for which I thought was Tinnitus due to a loud Super Diamond concert I had gone to and found out that I was reacting to all the pollen in the air and subscribed Sudafed.
I took the medicine, the seasons changed and I didn’t give it another thought until I started revamping my diet and moving towards a more holistic lifestyle. The first thing I discovered was that when I started taking bee pollen, specifically local bee pollen my allergy symptoms started disappearing. Then I bought an air purifier, removed most of the cleaning products that weren’t made from chemical products and searched around for a decent air purifier before settling on one of the iqair air purifiers. I can’t tell you the last time I had to deal with sneezing, a runny noise or watery eyes. Knock on wood.
Wait. I did fall off the bee pollen train when I was pregnant but I just felt plain awful the whole time that I didn’t notice allergies at all until three months postpartum and then I went with the big guns and started taking royal jelly. Again, I quickly stopped experiencing allergy symptoms and have been in the clear.
Do you deal with allergies? If so, what have you found that works for you?
