I haven’t talked about my weight loss journey in forever and, as I watch the 600 lb mom on TLC, it has reminded me to start sharing the highs and lows again.
So I haven’t been intermittent fasting, working out (I’ve been sick for almost 2 weeks) and have been eating a ton of sweets. Sounds like the perfect combination for a good 20 lb gain but thankfully, on my diet, I haven’t gained any weight but I haven’t lost any.
Before my cold struck, Mr. Bejelly and I went for a bike ride. It was fun and I was tired and happy afterwards. Later that night my right thigh started to twitch and it didn’t stop. I started to freak out thinking I was developing MS or it was a sign I had a brain tumor – yeah I know – I’m blessed with the ability to worry anything into a full blown panic. Anyhow, I thought about how many blessing I have in my life and how I needed to start taking better care of myself and forget about being thin. I’m not built for thin. The chances of me being thin are about the same as a finding a vampire that goes to mass every Sunday. This is not defeatist thinking, this is me accepting that the “thinnest” I can be is a size 10 based on my build, ethnicity and history. I also realized that:
I need to start doing yoga.
I need to start doing a fast once a week.
I need to stop eating sweets, well after I get the rest of my dessert cookbook done.
It’s time to make peace with my belly.
It’s time to realize that for me, the Paleo diet will never lead to ripped abs and 10% body fat. One, I don’t have the motivation to reach this goal and two, I kinda like having a little belly, weird right?
Now, having said all that, I still am not at my goal which is a size 10. I have this kooky idea of renewing my wedding wows in March and I am shooting to hit this goal, come hell or high water, by then.
So what’s the plan?
Intermittent Fasting once a week
10,000 steps 5- 6 days a week
Yoga once a week
I’m hoping to start this once my dratted cold is over.
Oh, that twitch in my thigh went away 5 minutes after I drank some coconut water. I was low on potassium and man that stuff worked wonders.
